Operation Regeneration is a Yarra Valley based regenerative land management business specialising in weed suppression, ecological restoration, and fire-risk reduction.
Founded by Dillon Trew, the business was built on a simple but powerful idea: work with natural systems, not against them.
We provide landholders, councils, and government agencies with practical, cost-effective alternatives to conventional vegetation control as well as understanding the practicality of hand weeding and spraying when necessary
Our Approach
We use carefully managed herds of goats (and expanding integrated grazing systems) to:
- Suppress woody weeds including blackberry, gorse and broom
- Reduce fuel loads in fire-prone landscapes
- Open up overgrown sites for revegetation
- Improve long-term land management outcomes
- Prepare sites for ecological recovery
Every project begins with a site assessment. From there, we design a staged grazing and restoration plan tailored to terrain, weed density, ecological context, and client objectives.
We don’t just clear land — we reset ecological trajectories.
Who We Work With
We partner with:
- Local councils across Victoria
- Water authorities and land managers
- Government agencies
- Rural and peri-urban landholders
- Conservation groups
- Infrastructure managers
Our systems are designed for steep terrain, sensitive riparian corridors, inaccessible embankments, and high-risk fuel areas where machinery is limited, costly, or environmentally disruptive.
Beyond Weed Control
- Property-scale ecological management plans (3–10 year frameworks)
- Native revegetation planning and implementation
- Biodiversity-focused planting lists
- Follow-up maintenance strategies
- Community education and demonstration projects
We believe weed suppression without succession planning is incomplete. Regeneration requires long-term thinking.
Why Targeted Grazing?
Compared to mechanical or chemical-only approaches, livestock browsing can:
- Reduce soil disturbance
- Access steep and sensitive terrain
- Lower carbon and fuel inputs
- Reduce repeated slashing costs
- Stimulate native seedbank recruitment
- Integrate into broader restoration programs
Our grazing is controlled, strategic, and outcomes-driven, not broadacre set-and-forget stocking.
Our Vision
To become Victoria’s leading regenerative land management provider, demonstrating that livestock when managed correctly are powerful ecological tools.
We aim to expand integrated systems including sheep for pasture management and additional livestock solutions suited to Australian landscapes, while continuing to build partnerships with agencies focused on sustainable land outcomes.
Our Values
Regeneration over extraction
Long-term outcomes over short-term fixes
Welfare and Ecology-first decision making
Professional, transparent communication
Community and collaboration
